My Teaching Philosophy

Beyond lessons—unlocking effortless learning with the right methods and techniques

Why I Teach Vietnamese

For me, teaching Vietnamese isn’t just about earning a living.
It’s about sharing the joy of discovering a new language, and helping you experience the beauty of Vietnamese through its culture — and vice versa.

Teaching Vietnamese is not just my job; it’s my passion and my flow.
Whether you’re starting from scratch or refining what you already know, I’d love to help you move from “Hello” to real, confident conversations — in a way that feels practical, connected, and genuinely enjoyable from the very beginning.

How I Teach

As a qualified ESL teacher (BA in English Pedagogy & TESOL certified), I’ve studied many teaching methods — but I don’t believe in blindly following the “best” one.

Instead, I continuously refine my approach to find what truly works for you.
Every lesson is shaped around your learning style, your pace, and your real-life needs — so learning becomes not just informative, but transformative.

My goal is simple:
learn smarter, not harder — and don’t just study Vietnamese, start to live it.

Smart Learning & Goal-Oriented Approach

My Smart Learning Approach focuses not only on what to learn, but how to learn effortlessly. Lessons are structured to follow how our brain naturally absorbs and retains language — through context, repetition, and real-life use.

Rather than overwhelming you with random vocabulary or rigid rules, we focus on what truly matters to your goals.

I don’t believe in one-size-fits-all learning. Your personal objectives — whether travel, family, work, or daily life — become our roadmap. This way, every lesson feels relevant, meaningful, and immediately applicable.

Learning That Lasts (How Memory Actually Works)

Many learners make progress for a while, then feel like they’re forgetting everything they’ve learned.

This doesn’t happen because they lack ability — it happens because most learning doesn’t support long-term memory.

Multi-Store Memory Model: Atkinson and Shiffrin

My lessons are designed around how memory actually works. Inspired by the Atkinson–Shiffrin model, each lesson follows a natural flow: new language is introduced clearly, practiced with guidance, used right away in real-life situations, and then revisited over time.

This helps move Vietnamese from short-term exposure into long-term, usable knowledge — so you’re not constantly starting over.

A Student-Centered, Two-Way Learning Space

My lessons are built on a two-way learning model — your voice always matters.

You’re encouraged to ask questions, give feedback, and bring topics that genuinely interest you. Instead of passively listening, you actively participate, explore, and use Vietnamese in ways that feel natural and engaging.

You take the stage; I stand beside you — guiding, supporting, and helping you shine.

Above all, I prioritize connection over perfection. Mistakes are not something to fear; they’re part of the journey. My classroom is a safe space where learning feels human, supportive, and motivating.

Practical Techniques I Use

  • The 20/80 Rule:
About 20% explanation, 80% practice — so you spend most of the lesson actively using Vietnamese.
  • Real-life, authentic materials:
Native voices, daily situations, and your own stories — Vietnamese as it’s truly spoken.
  • The 1% Better Every Day mindset:
Inspired by Atomic Habits, we focus on small, consistent progress that adds up naturally over time.
  • A safe space for mistakes:
Learning a language isn’t about looking perfect — it’s about showing up, trying, and growing. We celebrate progress, even the smallest wins (yes, high-fives included 🙌).
