A small weekly gathering for foreigners learning Vietnamese and exploring local life.
Living in a new country can sometimes feel surprisingly lonely, even in a city as warm and lively as Cần Thơ. Between work, travel, language barriers, and daily routines, it is not always easy to find a relaxed space where conversations feel natural, meaningful, genuinely welcoming, and where a quiet sense of belonging can slowly grow over time.
That is exactly why we meet every Friday evening.
This is a small and casual Vietnamese conversation meetup mainly created for foreigners, expats, travelers, and Vietnamese learners who would like to practice real-life Vietnamese, exchange cultures, and connect more deeply with local life in the Mekong Delta.
Rather than a formal class or a large networking event, the atmosphere is intentionally simple and relaxed, just people sitting together over coffee, sharing stories, asking questions, learning naturally, and enjoying good conversations at a comfortable pace.
I personally prefer smaller groups and meaningful exchanges over large crowds, so the meetup usually works best when everyone has space to comfortably join the conversation rather than competing for attention in a noisy room.

What to Expect
Little by little, these Friday evenings have become a familiar rhythm for some of us, sitting over coffee, sharing stories about life in Vietnam, exchanging small cultural observations here and there, learning the kind of Vietnamese that rarely appears in textbooks, and simply enjoying thoughtful conversations with people from different corners of the world.
Sometimes it is simply comforting to know that on Friday evening, there will be a familiar little corner somewhere in the city where conversations flow naturally, coffee is shared slowly, and nobody feels rushed to be anywhere else.
Most conversations naturally revolve around topics such as:
• Everyday life in Cần Thơ and Vietnam
• Food, cafés, and hidden local spots
• Cultural habits and daily experiences
• Travel stories and life abroad
• Real-life Southern Vietnamese expressions
• Questions related to learning Vietnamese naturally in daily situations
This meetup is especially suitable for foreigners who:
• are currently learning Vietnamese
• want more real-life listening and speaking exposure
• are new to Cần Thơ and would like practical local help or guidance
• are looking for deeper local insight, meaningful conversations, and authentic connections
• enjoy cultural exchange in a relaxed, friendly environment
• prefer small-group conversations over crowded events
Vietnamese participants might join in limited numbers upon advance notice and confirmation if you genuinely enjoy cultural exchange and helping create a comfortable environment for international guests. However, please note that this is not primarily intended to be an English practice club for locals.
A Small Note from Me
I host these evenings simply because I genuinely enjoy meeting people from different corners of the world and helping Vietnamese learners feel a little less lost while navigating life here and finding their own rhythm along the Vietnamese learning journey.
As both a local and a Southern Vietnamese tutor, I am always happy to share practical language, cultural context, and small everyday insights that are often difficult to find in textbooks or public truyeefn thong
Sometimes the evening becomes a lively group conversation, while other times it turns into a smaller table with only a few people talking quietly over coffee, or even a simple one-on-one chat, honestly, that already feels like a wonderful exchange to me.
Before You Come
If possible, please send me a quick message before attending, especially if it is your first time joining. You are also very welcome to let me know if there is a specific topic, cultural question, or Vietnamese expression you would like to explore that evening.
It helps me prepare a little beforehand so that our time together can feel more relaxed, enjoyable, and genuinely useful for everyone attending.
Other than that, just come as you are and join the conversation.
